Handbook of Tyranny - the exhibition
In April 2018 the “Initiative Architektur” hosted the “Handbook of Tyranny” exhibition. The design concept by Brendan McGetrick presented fragments of the book chapters Slaughterhouse, Walls and Fences and Prison Cells in the scale 1:1. By doing this, visitors got blended with the technical illustrations and inhabited them for the time of the exhibition. The illustrations are recordings from real live constructions, abstracted as line drawings. The exhibition gives the drawings back to the real world in real scale but pure and brutal.
Two carousel slide projectors, whose sounds were electronically reinforced, projected the chapters Free Entry and Terrorist Groups on the walls of the exhibition space. The slide-change of the projector produced a sound like loading a rifle, so reinforced the lingering violence behind the illustrations.
